Mrs. Reaves Biography

Mrs. Jackie Reaves was born and raised in Parker Valley Navajo & Nez Rd. to be exact. Yes, I was a Le Pera Rebel 1972 graduate and Parker High School Bronc 1976 graduate. My father raised my family to learn the white man's ways, no Navajo language, English only, and strongly stressed education. I had older siblings who were good role models so I went on to receive my Bachelor's degree from Northern AZ University 1981 and Master's degree 2002 California State University, Los Angeles. My family believed in education!

I have been teaching for Parker Unified School District since 1989 and began as a third grade teacher. In 1991 I began teaching Home Economics at Parker High School and now teach Hospitality which is part of Career and Technical Education/CTE. I am also the FCCLA (Family, Career, Community Leaders of America), adviser at Parker High School, an active chapter. Each Spring our state FCCLA Chapter competes in public speaking events, each time we bring home medals! Prior to that, I began teaching in 1981 and taught seven years in northern AZ at Tuba City High School 3 years, Chinle Boarding School 2 years, and Jeddito Public School 2 years. I heard my calling and came back to Parker to make this home permanent and have an impact on student lives with education!

Mrs. Reaves is married to Mr. Robert Reaves, who teaches Math at Parker High School. We have a home in Parker. We love to travel in the US to National Parks and take cruises to Hawai, Alaska & Mexico. There are 2 dogs at home Cheyenne and Kodiak, both rescue dogs. I enjoy taking my dogs to dog obedience classes at Big River, CA. In our spare time we enjoy visiting Ocean Beach/Dog Beach in San Diego, CA where my husband is from & we were married on the beach!
