Macayla smiling big, holding a leaf near her face

Hello, my name is Macayla Salcido and I am honored to be April student of the month for Parker High School. I am the fourth child to Joe and Annette Salcido. My siblings are Joseph, Isaiah, Alicia, Mariah and Micah Salcido. I am a part of Student Council, FBLA, NHS, Interact, SIC, Band, managing sports and playing on the Lady Broncs Volleyball team.

I have been a FBLA member since freshman year, being influenced by other high school students to join the club my eighth grade year. Since then, I’ve held an officer position for the last three years and have had so much fun. My favorite memories were being able to experience all the conferences and competitions for the first time.

Band has been a big part of my life since the sixth grade, and has continued to be my safe space. I play the flute, I am currently their President, and I have been their Drum Major for two years. Music holds a special place in my heart, while friendships and memories just made it even easier to love Band. Shoutout to Mrs. Flores for watching me grow all these years and to all my friends who grew with me.

After graduation, I plan on attending Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff to study nursing. I also hope to take classes to learn ASL to open myself to more opportunities as a nurse and continue to help the community.

A very special thank you to my parents who have pushed me to be the best. More thank you’s to Mrs. Flores, Mr. Diaz, Mr. Gordon, My boyfriend and My Friends (you guys know who you are) to making every day better than the last. One last thank you, again, from your April student of the month.
