Hello, my name is Luke Martinez. I am the son of Joe and Claribel Martinez. It’s a pleasure to be your December student of the month. Senior year so far has felt surreal to me. I’ve been involved with Football and Baseball throughout high school. These sports have taught me life lessons and brought me memories that I will carry with me for the rest of my life. I have been a member of the National Honor Society (NHS) for two years with Mr. Meale’s guidance. I am also the Vice President of the Parker FFA Chapter under Mr. Munoz’s supervision. I have been showing animals such as pigs and steers for 9 years. Growing up on a farm, agriculture has always been a big part of my life.
I would explain my High School experience as unique. Each year has felt like a different chapter of developing. There are so many memories I've made with the people I grew up with. I want to thank the teachers and the coaches I’ve crossed paths with for teaching me the standards of the real world. I have maintained all A’s throughout high school and have taken the most rigorous classes Parker High School has to offer. I like to keep my expectations high for myself, it teaches me to stay disciplined and dedicated to my goals.
My plans for after graduation are to attend a university and get a degree in engineering. I am forever grateful for the family I have. They’ve always supported and believed in me. They feel like it is their responsibility to advise me on staying on the right path and not lose focus. My advice to the younger classes is to develop a mindset of growth. There is always room for improvement. Most importantly, step out of your comfort zone and try new things. Your experience will be decided by the choices you make.
