Hello! My name is Ky-Mani Flores, and I am a proud 17-year-old Native American and Hispanic student and the daughter of Alicia and Robert Flores. I am also one of six children, and I am blessed to have five siblings who love me loudly and unconditionally: Dominik, Adrian, Lukas, Kaiya, and Marli. My family has always been one of my greatest sources of motivation, strength, and encouragement.
Throughout my four years at Parker High School, I have made it a goal to become involved in my school and community in as many ways as possible. I have had the opportunity to participate in FFA (Future Farmers of America), NHS (National Honor Society), Interact through Rotary, Student Council, basketball, and softball. Most recently, I was given the opportunity to serve on the School Improvement Council, and I am extremely excited to be a part of it and to have a voice in helping make our school the best it can be. I am currently serving as Senior Class President and NHS President, two roles that I am incredibly proud of.
After high school, I plan to attend college and pursue my dream of becoming a doctor. I have always had a passion for helping people in any way I can, but my desire to become a doctor has been especially inspired by my mom, who is a nurse. Watching her care for so many people both inside and outside of the hospital has shown me the impact that one person can have on the lives of others. I hope that one day I can make the same kind of difference in people’s lives that my mom has made in mine and in the lives of so many others.
I would not be the person I am today without the people who have supported me along the way. I want to give a special thank you to my parents, siblings, and grandparents, Maria and Miguel Torres, for always encouraging me, supporting my education, and reminding me to be the best version of myself. I am also incredibly thankful to my best friend, Shelby Tahbo, and her family for always treating me like family and supporting me through everything. I would also like to thank the teachers who have helped guide and encourage me throughout my high school journey: Charles Magpayo and Lenard Taclobo. Your support and encouragement have made an impact on me that I will carry with me long after I graduate.
Finally, I want to thank the Parker High School staff for giving me this incredible honor. Being Parker High School’s first Student of the Month is something I will always be proud of, and I hope to continue representing my school, my family, and my community to the best of my ability. Most importantly I thank God.
I am excited for what the future holds, and I know that with the support of my family, teachers, friends, and community, I can accomplish the goals I have set for myself.
